The Film Company, is a underwater video production house. We specialise in underwater videography and post production and are passionate about visual story telling; we also like weird words (link to LOVE) so you might find a few spattered around on the site. We create content for a full range of commercial, broadcast, personal and corporate media projects and strive to bring disassociated worlds together in new and inventive ways.

Founded back in 2002, a few young diving instructors decided to teach themselves to film and edit underwater video on the then remote island of Koh Tao, Thailand. We started out by filming new divers who were completing dive training courses as they progressed though open-water and advanced levels, and providing souvenir underwater movies of their experiences. We did everything from scratch and learnt via trial and error (It was still VHS back then!!).

As we move further on in time, (and onto DVD's ;)) we realised that with such a strong foundation in the fundamentals of underwater video production we needed to expand our services and to teach others how to achieve these amazing results so that we could keep up with need for underwater videographers in the growing dive community here on Koh Tao. Before long we had developed our own training programmes to support those wanting to learn to film and editing skills for underwater video.

Jumping forward to today; we are run by Rosie and Sharky (- we have entered into the heady world of Full HD, 4K and internet sharing!!) and operate a full imaging production house working to broadcast production standards in both photography and video, underwater and on land. We still provide video services to dive shops and resorts and teach customised courses in production and editing on a wide range of equipment and software for many media genres. We work hard to keep up with the latest technologies and techniques and constantly strive to achieve more.

Our underwater video courses are still second to none, the goal being to pass on the skills of craft and story telling to everyone who we work with; we offer a choice of customised or dive agency certified courses aimed at achieving your particular aesthetic or technical goals and all our courses are written and taught by the same team that brought you the BTEC level three certified course in underwater and land media production, so are taught to a uk accredited standard.

 

We LOVE to mix it up and actively pursue our desire to communicate through video and photography. We are passionate about the art of visual story telling.
